レッドブルとユニコーンー申命記の記載

欽定訳聖書では、人々を追い立てていったのはユニコーンだったと書かれている



　最初にこの不可思議な怪獣の名が語られたのは、物語の冒頭あたり、これまで長い間自分の守ってきた常春の森を離れて、外の世界へと旅立ったばかりのユニコーンが路上で出会った、意味なく歌を口ずさむことしか知らない、気の触れたような蝶によってだった（１）。ユニコーンの尋ねた質問をはぐらかすように、とりとめの無い戯言を延々と繰り返した後に、漸く彼は先程尋ねられたユニコーンの問いに答えるかのごとく、遠い昔に世界のあらゆるところから失われてしまった他のユニコーン達の消息と、その運命的な事件に関与したというレッド・ブルという不可思議な存在について語ったのである。

勇気を失うことが無ければ、失われた仲間達を見つけ出すことができます。彼等は遠い昔に世界のあらゆる道を駆け去り、その後をレッド・ブルが追って、彼等の足跡を消し去ってしまったのです。

しかしこの風のように希薄で極楽蜻蛉そのもののように脳天気な蝶は、助言者としてはいささか当てにならない、むしろはなはだ頼りないと言うべき軽佻浮薄な情報提供者なのである。何故ならば、“レッド・ブル”という始めて耳にする名について、改めて尋ねたユニコーンに対する蝶の答えは、以下のようなものであったからだ。

“His firstling bull has majesty, and his horns are the horns of a wild ox. With them he shall push the peoples, all of them, to the ends of the earth.”

「彼の第一子は王となり、その角は野牛の角。これを用いて牡牛は、全ての民を地の果てまで追いやるであろう。」

　実は彼のこの言葉もやはり、ユニコーンの問いに答えて語ったものとは、必ずしも言い難いものなのだ。これはひょっとしたら、旧約聖書の一つ「申命記」（Deuteronomy）３３章１７節に、エジプトを脱出したモーセに対して神によってなされた予言として記載されている言葉の、あるがままの引用に過ぎないものであるかもしれないからである。


ユニコーンとレッドブルの交換記述あるいは同一性を暗示する要素については、『アンチファンタシーというファンタシー２』の第７章「レッド・ブル―無知と盲目の影」に掘り下げた考察があります。

トークショップへのメッセージ

アメリカ、ロサンジェルスのユング研究所のジョン=レイニアード氏から、トークショップ開催に際して次のメッセージをお寄せ頂きました。

I am a Jungian psychoanalyst in the Los Angeles area. I’ve been a fan of Japanese anime and manga for around two decades now. I’ve published one paper on the Full Metal Alchemist series in a Jungian journal and I’ve given talks about the deep psychological value of anime. Much of anime and manga that is produced in Japan is still close to the imagination, the spontaneity is still there and so the voice of the collective unconscious is strong. Anime carries images that compensate the stale patriarchal attitudes of the collective. The warmth of feeling in anime, the focus on personal suffering and the healing of relationships, more than heroic action, provides a tonic for our obsessive and anxious times. Anime often show how a relationship to an alien other, god or space being, can be healing for both (The Ancient Magus Bride comes to mind).

I support any effort such as you are taking on if it widens the acceptance and experience of this incredible and vital stream of living water.

イオンタウン　トークショップ

２月２５日にユーカリが丘イオンタウンで開催予定のトークショップでは、アニメ作品 The Last Unicorn とトップクラフト社の活動内容に関する意見交換と並んで、ファン有志による「研究委員会」の設立が討議される予定です。その趣旨は以下の通りです。

ビーグル、トップクラフト研究推進委員会綱要


　The Last Unicorn のファンの集い。
　ピーター=ビーグルの原作とトップクラフト社のアニメ双方に対する理解を深める。
　日本語版アニメThe Last Unicorn のリリースを実現するための条件等について意見交換し、アイデアを検証する。
　ビーグルの作品とアニメ文化について語り合い、自らの思いを様々に表現する。
　これら以外の実利的な目的を敢えて共有せず、ファンとしての謙虚な姿勢を忘れずに布教に務める。
　組織運営上の義務や負担に相当するものは基本として設けないこととする。
　活動は既存の諸ネットワークシステムを利用して、個別に自発的な行為として行う。




Committee of Beagle-Topcraft Research Promotion


We would like to propose the establishment of this committee as a subject to discuss on the workshop. The purpose and contents are as follows.


This is a gathering of fans of The Last Unicorn.
We will develop our understanding of both Peter Beagle’s original work and Topcraft’s animation.
We endeavor to exchange views and to verify ideas about the means to realize the release of Japanese version animation disk of The Last Unicorn.
We discuss Beagle’s work and animation culture, expressing each other’s individual ideas variously.
We do not share any pragmatic purpose other than these, and always keep humble attitude as a fan and serve as missionary devotee.
Any specific obligation or burden as a member of the organization shall not be established.
Our activities are carried out individually as voluntary actions each making use of existing network systems.
